This was something else… it was probably the most stressful performance ever!! I accepted to sing at the award quite early on. They had asked me before but this was the first time I was availible. Then nothing happened. Time went by and I didn t have an act to perform. I thought ” sod it, I’ll just do some safe and beautiful aria…” then 3 days before the show the producer Ragge came to me with a piece of paper with some sport team chants. Like go Sweden etc. He said” can you make something from this?” I went home and cried… Then Svante -my husband – said ” right., let’s just do it.” And we did. He rewrote the lyrics and I arranged the music. Started out with coloraturas, then carmen and so on…finishing with Rossini.
The best part is of course Henke Larsson ( who I LOVE) is sucking….in helsingborg! Svante saw this on a banner at a footboll game ( Hammarby- Helsingborg in the swedish cup). It made out a question in Swedens largest morning paper’s Sunday cross word!!!!! ” Where does Malena sing that Henke is sucking…..?”
On the first rehearsal no one was really laughing though. They all just kind of stopped and made strange faces. But it went ok in the end… We made a similar act for this years show but they pulled it out during the broadcast due to shortage of time – 10 minutes before my going on stage! Sad. But that’s life.
