Yesterday La Voix went straight to number one on Svensktoppen – the chart that has the longest tradition in Sweden! It s a unique radio chart show for Swedish music only. This is a bit special since La Voix has been somewhat sidestepped by the mainstream Swedish radio channels… And yesterday my twitter friends could follow the whole show together with me here on malenaernman.com!!!!

Årets DN konsert vid Sjöhistoriska Museet! Jag och Henrik Dorsin och Kungliga Filharmoniska Orkestern.

The last day of recording! Stockholm Sinfonietta conducted by Alberto Hold Garrido and me have just finished the last take of Didos Lament. And we’re finally done! The first classical album ever recorded on a pop label record company!!!! To me this was as huge as it gets!

The record will be realeased in july along with a pop record produced and written by Fredrik Kempe and Anders Hansson…pas mal!! Fredrik is old friend of mine dating back to ”Staden” at Sthlm  Royal Opera. Of course he wrote La Voix and won the swedish melodifestivalen for the second year running!  And Anders Hansson is a legend in swedish pop music – currently no 1 on the uk dmc club hits chart with ”Realease me” by Agnes. Pretty contemporaine mes amis! So we’re spanning from Händel to the sound of Anders Hansson. At least  we won’t be main stream….

Den enda skivan som spelas här hemma är Melodifestivalen skivan… vi fick den förra veckan och barnen blev helt besatta! Istället för att sitta framför svt.se så kunde vi plötsligt lyssna på alla låtarna på stereon i vardagsrummet! Så nu leker dom melodifestivalen hela dagarna… På kvällen, på morgonen innan dagis och hela helgerna utan avbrott – vi är och äter och sover och andas bara MELODIFESTIVALEN. Svante och jag får vara med ibland och då är det tävling och alla ska rösta.
” Jag är ju Marie Serneholt” säger Greta. Och Beata vill alltid vara Molly eller Maja Gullstrand. ” Inga pojkar” skriker dom! Men om det är tävling så får Svante vara Måns eller Lasse Lindh. Och jag är Andreas i Alcazar eller Velvet…

Ibland är dockorna med också – då får alla sitta i soffan och några av smådockorna får vara Lilli och Sussi och pippidockan är Emilia och Greta är Sarah Dawn Finer som åker hiss. Beata är Malena ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄrnman….
Och sen är jag och tjejerna Alcazar. Svante får bara vara Måns. Och han måste klä ut sig också; med kavaj och fluga. Vi har alltid varsin träslev som mikrofon.

Sen röstar dom. Och det är alltid samma som vinner: Tej de najt med Alcazar!!!!!

This was something else… it was probably the most stressful performance ever!! I accepted to sing at the award quite early on. They had asked me before but this was the first time I was availible. Then nothing happened. Time went by and I didn t have an act to perform. I thought ” sod it, I’ll just do some safe and beautiful aria…” then 3 days before the show the producer Ragge came to me with a piece of paper with some sport team chants. Like go Sweden etc. He said” can you make something from this?”  I went home and cried… Then Svante -my husband –  said ” right., let’s just do it.” And we did. He rewrote the lyrics and I arranged the music. Started out with coloraturas, then carmen and so on…finishing with Rossini. 

The best part is of course Henke Larsson ( who I LOVE) is sucking….in helsingborg! Svante saw this on a banner at a footboll game ( Hammarby- Helsingborg in the swedish cup). It made out a question in Swedens largest morning paper’s Sunday cross word!!!!! ” Where does Malena sing that Henke is sucking…..?”

On the first rehearsal no one was really laughing though. They all just kind of stopped and made strange faces. But it went ok in the end… We made a similar act for this years show but they pulled it out during the broadcast due to shortage of time – 10 minutes before my going on stage! Sad.  But that’s life.

How do you do this Sofreya??!!! Where do you get these recordings? !! This is stuff that I have never ever heard myself…. This is the beauty of the new age!! This recording is of course not record quality, it s not perfect from my part. But still… The fact that it s out there for everyone to hear is wonderful. This of course means that we can’t hide anymore… We’re not safe!! But I think we’ve been safe for too long – so thank you Sofreya ( and all of you bigpinkypig, astrantia005, penzilsinc, SDCmorg and EVERYONE else!!!! ) I love you all!!!

Hej alla kära ni som har skrivit till mig dom sista 2 månaderna!!!  Tack för alla brev!!!!

Problemet är att jag haft lite fullt upp på sista tiden…. Så om ni inte har fått något svar ännu så är det på väg.!!!  Det tar lite tid bara… Men jag lovar att svara så snart jag hinner!!!!

This is the ideal. Bengt Åkes daughter Miranda is playing upstairs with Greta. Beata is kind  enough to let me sing and Svante is making coffee on the La Scala and taking pictures for the web site…

This is at least decent…  It’s hard to sing in this incredible noice and hearing yourself in the ear monitor…In Malmö I couldn’t tell my own voice from the ghost choir  voice! On the bus back to the hotel – after winning – Fredrik Kempe explained that they could lower the choir… That was news to me!  The first time I listned to the Malmö performance I nearly died…

And in the viewing room on the first day of rehearsals in Malmö we all had a bit of crisis….if there  would have been any road out of the competition that day I would have taken it!!!!!!! But Christer Björkman and Anders Johansson ( bless their sweet souls!!!) just made some quick changes and voila! We were on our way to Globen…

This production certainly wasn’t a success!! The english media hated it! But that  doesn’t mean much as they tend to hate a lot of things…. And they hated  me of course. They hated everything!!!! The director ran away to Scotland after the opening and I remember Svante saying that it was the first time he had ever seen a production actually getting worse from the first audience rehearsal to the opening night….

Ah the sweet memories!!! It was also the warmest summer in english history – the record was set somewhere  south of London on the 10th of august. 38.5 degrees. Greta was 6 months old and learned to crawl in Lewes! She also learned to breast feed from a mother wearing a moustach.  Very confusing I am sure… 

But the production wasn’t  really that bad…. And when I saw it on Youtube I kind of liked it!!!

I have two hobbies… and that’s not bad for a working mother of 2 daughters at the age of 38!!!! One is cooking (or at least READING about cooking…) and the other one is collecting dolls like these. It’s pathetic I know but I can’t help myself whenever I stumble over a Bruce Willis or a Wolverine or a Darth Vader doll….

This is me and Sev!! I like to think that we’re pretty cool…. She is anyway!! And lately she’s had her camera focused on me on a few occasions. 

She says I’m kind of cool too despite the fact that I am so old… This is us anyway on my bathroom floor.
